The 1/2" shank is the largest standard imperial size and is favoured for heavy-duty routing, providing maximum stability and reduced vibration when working with larger router bits. Always ensure the collet size matches your router bit shank exactly — using an incorrectly sized collet is a serious safety hazard. This collet must not be used with shank sleeves under any circumstances.
